Get your cones ready for the most special edition EVER of Malvern Books’ free reading series, I SCREAM SOCIAL, hosted by Malvern’s own Annar Veröld and Schandra Madha. Featuring women writers from the Austin community (and beyond!), this month we have so very much to celebrate, namely the launch of the I Scream Social Anthology, a book showcasing writers from the first two years of the series! We’ll have copies to sell and tons of festivities planned for the evening. And because it’s also our annual Halloween Edition, costumes are encouraged, with the promise of prizes for our favorites.
Launch Party Schedule:
~6:30pm – Arrive early for free screen printing of the book cover art, courtesy of rad cover artist Nat Bradford. Bring a shirt or tote! (black ink will be used, so lighter fabrics recommended)
~7pm – Live music from local band Jade and The Foxtones! They’ll be serving up funky grooves while we serve up the ice cream cake!
~7:30pm – Open Mic for women and non-binary writers! We ask that you select pieces under 3 minutes so that we can showcase as many voices as possible.
~After the open mic, we’ll announce our costume contest winners. Copies of the anthology will be available for purchase all evening. Contributors in attendance are welcome to autograph copies!
~9pm – Join us for the after-party at Spiderhouse!
